Before I attached to plastic, I designed without any adhesive methods in this time. That is why I heat the metal piece then attached on the plastic so it could sink into plastic and stay securely. It worked well if I push enough to bottom and I could get good result this time. To avoid look like exactly the recycling logo, I filed the bottom of earring as its shape so that it has more decorative element. I sand blasted areas that I want to make semi-translucent for plastic and metal pieces as well. It brings attention to middle where the cubic zirconias are located. To attach these CZs, I drilled bur with same size of CZ then I used epoxy to it because I could not heat the silver. It will be oxidized the front side of silver and it will show through plastic which is I can not clean up. Using silver disk for the back of the earring gave brighter yellow color look.

For the brooch, I choose to use red color because green recycle logo color reminds me to think about environment but we have to keep this earth healthy for next generations. That is why I choose red color to show urgency. Also, little metal pieces are pointing out so it does not look recycle logo as earring. I like the color differences of parts. Middle of brooch is darker than other area because I used copper piece as background. I wanted to give different dimension so I filed all the corners of brooch. Czs are set in one side only to give asymmetrical view.

SOOJA LEEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13380524409875276777noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1621511260571840208.post-47990720892193455532009-09-07T21:11:00.000-07:002009-09-11T10:04:29.082-07:00Recycle/Reuse

<span style="font-family:"Lucida Grande";mso-bidi-Lucida Grande"font-family:";font-size:11.0pt;">This first project, Recycle/ Reuse, I focused on making over of materials. I chose to use two things, a piece of lace, and another (I am sorry I don’t know its name). First, I tired to make a bouquet brooch with dried flower because I had some dried corn silk and dried flowers. I thought it will be good if I could arrange these materials and make a bouquet brooch. After I finished to make a bouquet, it looked good to me but it was not interesting enough because I used real flowers even thought I used corn silk to wrap flowers.

<span style="font-family:"Lucida Grande";mso-bidi-Lucida Grande"font-family:";font-size:11.0pt;">I change my mind to tear off dried flowers and make something out of it. I put petals upon another then glue it together. Then placed in a brass piece then I used epoxy to hold together. Then I made some curves for one material (they were straight) and put around petals so that they can look related (the petal’s shape). Then I cut two pieces of lace as its flower pattern. I glued them on the bottom of brooch then wrapped with dry plants around brass to have transition. I sprayed a lacquer over petal’s deep purple color so it looks shiner and could be hard enough to stay (but it is still fragile). Also, all the materials I used were natural and a lace piece is bringing together well. I enjoyed this project next post is going to be next project.

<span style="font-family:"Lucida Grande";mso-bidi-Lucida Grande"font-family:";font-size:11.0pt;">

<span style="font-family:"Lucida Grande";mso-bidi-Lucida Grande"font-family:";font-size:11.0pt;">
SOOJA LEEhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/13380524409875276777noreply@blogger.com0
